Our industry-changing products and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.
We're looking for a Director of Platform Engineering who will spearhead the strategic development and operational excellence of our AWS cloud infrastructure. This role calls for a visionary leader with a robust technical background and a proven track record of building resilient, scalable cloud platforms that empower product innovation. You'll be at the helm of a dynamic team, shaping the foundational technology that propels our suite of products forward.
You will
• Lead and scale the Platform Engineering team responsible for our AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to support product engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain a roadmap for the platform's evolution, incorporating industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• Drive the adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC), automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration to accelerate development cycles and reduce human error.
• Oversee the design and implementation of robust CI/CD pipelines, enabling quick and reliable code deployments and rollbacks.
• Foster a culture of performance, security, and cost-optimization across the cloud platform, providing guidance on best practices to all engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product engineering leads to understand their needs and ensure the platform supports the rapid growth and development of new features and services.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the cloud platform is cost-effective without compromising on performance.
• Demonstrate commitment to our core competencies of being authentic, curious, creative, empathetic and outcome oriented.
You bring
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred)
• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on cloud-based architecture, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing cloud engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience managing cloud engineering teams with 10+ engineers.
• Strong technical expertise in AWS services, architecture patterns, and best practices.
• Proven experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform), container orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes), and CI/CD technologies (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, set technical and performance standards, and drive a culture of excellence.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical executive audiences.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-management within a cloud environment.
• A track record of driving innovation and efficiency through automation and process improvements.
• Demonstrated success getting results through collaboration.

In addition to standard benefits, Gravie’s package includes alternative medicine coverage, flexible PTO, 16 weeks paid parental leave, paid holidays, cell phone reimbursement, education reimbursement, and 1 week of paid paw-ternity leave just to name a few.
