You will be responsible for providing data and privacy support and advice to our global business teams and assist with the creation, implementation and maintenance of our data and privacy program. You must have experience in data and privacy, excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy and a proven ability to function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise.

What will you be up to?

• You will advise the business, with respect to privacy-related issues, and data protection issues.
• Help to implement and improve data & privacy program, through the creation of standards and guidance.
• Help provide legal advice on a range of privacy topics, design, improve and scale hackajob’s privacy and data protection processes.
• Partner with key areas of the business to be their first point of contact to provide legal and strategic data protection and privacy advice seeking solutions that help minimise risk and resolve issues whilst maximising opportunities for our business to deliver on its goals and protect commercial interests.
• To meet with customers own security teams to discuss Data Protection focused issues, conducting tests and audits where needed
• To assist the sales teams in completing procurement documentation and ensuring that data centric compliance is understood & in place. That a robust DPA is in place, any and all regulatory requirements are met and adhered to
• Monitor and respond to developments in data protection and information security, including new laws, regulations, key judgments, regulatory guidance etc.
• Work together with the VP of Engineering to understand the security of the platform and implement procedures, and policies

What are we looking for?

• Experience working in a fast-paced start up
• Practical knowledge of privacy, data security, cybersecurity and data protection principles.
• Have strong knowledge of GDPR
• Working knowledge of U.S. state data privacy compliance.
• Experience prioritising work, providing advice under deadlines, problem-solving, and demonstrating strong attention to detail, while under limited oversight
• Experience in handling investigations, including communication with authorities and other external parties
• Must have excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment.
