Summary
The Platform team focus is on the development of infrastructure, frameworks, tooling, and technology in support of FINEOS applications and our cloud-hosting service.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you are a key contributor in design, implementation, testing, and quality. On any given day, you will design and review frameworks and cloud architecture, optimize our approach to software quality and infrastructure, and work with our other teams to better understand our users’ problems and deliver solutions. This Senior Software Engineer role provides you the opportunity to broaden your Software development, technical architecture, and leadership skills. In this role you will work in a Platform team committed to delivering quality software for our internal and external customers around the globe.


Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
• You will build software using the latest technologies that are used by FINEOS’ engineering teams.

• You will design and develop software modules to support the FINEOS AdminSuite and FINEOS Product Consulting Teams.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, technical analysis and design, development and unit test phases including internal infrastructure right through to cloud delivery
• You will get exposure to latest cloud technologies.
• You will provide guidance on best practices and participate in peer review of designs, code, and tests. • Promote and live the FINEOS values and increase positive relations with team, customers, prospects, and partners.
• Interact with internal and external customers of the organisation, to clarify requirements, design and develop solutions.
• Identify, deliver and drive improvements and innovations within the development area.
• Compile and review estimates around all technical aspects of a solution.
• Ensure all aspects of good design and construction are delivered, including:
• Performance, scalability and security
• Modularity, interoperability and upgradability
• Work with peers within the client organization to ensure a successful delivery
• Provide detailed planning and tracking information to Scrum Masters, Development leads and Project management

Education and/or Experience
• Minimum of 5+ years post qualification experience in a software engineering role with exposure to the full SDLC, preferably on enterprise scale systems
• A relevant third level qualification (BS/MS) or equivalent commercial experience • Proven excellent technical problem-solving capabilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision, relied upon for critical tasks and accept leadership roles when called upon to do so.
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills (both written and verbal).

• Experience working as a part of a cross-functional team covering all aspects of software SDLC (implementation, testing, deployment).

• Exposure to code analysis such as Sonar, PMD/Findbugs would be an advantage
• Experience working within an Agile environment highly desirable.
• Committed to creating readable, reliable, and maintainable code and come up to speed quickly on new technologies


Technical Skills
• You must have strong coding skills (Java, Node JS/TypeScript) and be familiar with Object-Oriented programming and application of design patterns.

• Proficiencies with some or all of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, React, JSON

• You have proven experience designing for and working with Amazon Web Services or another Cloud Platform.
• AWS automation experience (code commit, code pipeline, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC Networking, EC2, ELB)
• You have development experience with several AWS services such as CloudWatch EventBridge, Step functions, Lambda functions (nodejs) and IAM roles/policies • Experience with building API services (REST/etc).
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid foundation of QA methodology, testing techniques, frameworks, and approaches.
• You have experience in the design and architecting of solutions for internal and existing client facing hosted applications as they are moved into cloud environments such as AWS.
• Experience mentoring junior members of the team to contribute to solutions and produce high quality code.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, Boto) would be an advantage.
• You have experience with Application Servers (e.g. JBoss, Tomcat)
• You have experience with RDBMS systems (e.g. Oracle)
• Exposure to Continuous Integration and build automation tools with proficiency in some or all of the following: Gradle, Git, Jenkins, CDK, CodePipeline/CodeBuild
• Configuration Management experience (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
• Multi-platform skills (Linux/Unix/Windows) would be an advantage


Language Skills
• Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.

Travel Requirements
• Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire a valid passport.

Work Requirements
