About the Role
We are seeking an experienced accounting manager to join the Finance team, primarily responsible for the creation and development of a world-class accounting department. Reporting to the SVP of Finance, you’ll have the full support of the company to implement processes and procedures (month-end close, T&E, A/P, internal controls, tax reporting, etc.) which will be instrumental in creating the company’s financial infrastructure.
This is the perfect role for someone who thrives in a running-in-the-halls start-up environment, but values the stability provided by a well-capitalized public company. There will be significant opportunities for advancement as the company expands.
Responsibilities:
- Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements accounting close process
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including Cash, Accounts Receivable / Payable, Carrier Payables, Accrued Expenses, and Payroll
- Continually develop, expand, and improve month end close and financial reporting procedures and help drive the reduction of the close timeline by assessing and streamlining close-related activities, same for day-to-day accounting operations
- Lead the configuration (Financial Statements, dashboards, etc.) of Microsoft Dynamics 365 to leverage the most out the accounting system
- Provide monthly budget vs actual variance analysis to the Leadership team and quarterly variance analysis to Arch as part of the consolidation process
- Manage and comply with state, federal, and international government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Handle the monthly settlement reports with insurance carriers and other partners
- Support semi-annual audit process with insurance carriers and other partners
- In time, recruit, lead, and develop a world-class accounting team
Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of accounting (US GAAP) particularly around topics inherent with technology companies (software capitalization, NOLs, etc.)
- Desire to create processes and procedures from scratch and oversee their successful deployment companywide
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and interface with all levels of management
- Relentless attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability and desire to move in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
- Experience working in a regulated industry (fintech, insurtech, etc.) highly preferred
- CPA, Bachelor's Degree, Accounting or MBA preferred
- Big 4 Accounting Firm and/or high-growth start-up experience preferred
