As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring our database environments are available, secure, and meet our performance requirements. Our ideal candidate is self-driven and detail oriented. You will help ensure our database environments are configured correctly, review and tune schema changes and queries, and help build a plan for scaling to meet capacity.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • At least 5 years of experience in database administration

  • At least three years of experience with SQL server

  • Professional experience with AWS RDS

  • Proficiency with database change management tools like Liquibase

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and relational databases.

  • Understanding of best practices for querying SQL server

  • Strong desire to learn and collaborate with the team, and

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum.

In addition, they may have:

  • Experience managing Postgres and Snowflake databases

  • Strong desire to learn and collaborate with the team, and

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Evaluating the performance of SQL server databases

  • Reviewing database schema changes

  • Reviewing stored procedures and queries for security and performance issues

  • Implementing configuration changes to SQL server

  • Documenting standards and best practices for database changes

  • You will work to build strong relationships with and support co-workers, including remote peers in other time zones.
