Valera Health is searching for a Sr. Medical Director who is passionate about delivering the best clinical care for our patients. In this role, you’ll develop and oversee a department of providers across the country. Our clinicians use Valera Health’s proprietary telehealth platform to deliver comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality behavioral health care.

Responsibilities:
● Work in a collaborative care environment, providing consultation, education and supervision to colleagues to provide excellent, evidence-based mental health medication management. Evaluate for general medical health and make referrals for medical follow-ups, as needed
● Scale a department of nurse practitioners and psychiatrists along with medical assistants across the country; supporting Valera’s vision, values and focusing on creating an inclusive and high quality patient-care culture
● Lead the work of applying process improvement techniques to analyze, identify, and implement changes to workflow, staff, and organizational structure that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness in the areas of authority of the Senior Medical Director. Utilize outcome data, daily huddles to monitor key performance indicators and identify improvement opportunities.
● Lead clinical utilization review efforts (e.g. appropriateness of service, intensity of service and NCQA measures) on a prospective, concurrent, or retrospective basis coordinating with care management team and operational team.
● Assist with NCQA Quality Strategy Development
● Responsible for identifying hiring needs, staff development, coaching, performance reviews, corrective actions, and termination of employees. Provide feedback to direct reports including regular one-on-ones and performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
Required:
● Graduate of an accredited medical school with an M.D.
● Completion of a US-based residency program
● Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
● Experience with telehealth patient management OR comfortable learning new technology
● 5+ years of management of psychiatry/ or behavioral health department
Preferred:
● Multiple active state licenses
● Proven ability in medical leadership position possessing clinical credibility with peers and the ability to be a team player and team builder
● Demonstrated scaling of clinical team across multiple states
● A commitment to evidence-based practices and measurement-based care
● Comfort in environments with frequent ambiguity and change
● Comfortable with learning to use various tech tools and using them to your advantage to increase efficiency and impact
● Reliable and team oriented. As a remote employee, you will be expected to work independently, proactively take ownership of initiatives, and communicate regularly with your team.
Fair work deserves fair wages. We at Valera value this role between 250k-290k with the potential for an annual performance bonus.
