Valera health connectors are an integral part of each patient’s care team and guarantee that patients have a seamless experience entering care. The health connector serves as the first point of contact for potential patients and conducts the initial consultation.
Responsibilities of the Health Connector:
Conduct the initial patient consultation, which includes: overview of our service model, gathering patient demographic information/forms, reviewing insurance benefits, onboarding the patient, and scheduling with a provider
Provide an excellent customer service experience to prospective patients
Become a SME (subject matter expert) on the patient onboarding journey and all Health Connector workflows
Be involved in the growth of this team, attend weekly team huddles and monthly all-staff meetings
You will love this role if you:
Have an interest in behavioral health and use passion, compassion, and care to serve patients with behavioral health needs
Are comfortable with technology and using different platforms simultaneously
Are detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle different priorities
Are willing to continue professional development through trainings such as mental health first aid, motivational interviewing, and crisis management
Qualifications:
Required:
A minimum of 32 hours of weekly availability, between the hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm EDT on Monday-Friday (preference given to applicants with availability from 12:00pm-8:00pm)
A background in behavioral health such as a BS in psychology, social work, social services, case management/coordination
Customer service experience (call/contact center or otherwise)
Experience or comfortable with crisis management
Experience working in an EMR/EHR (Athena, Cerner, DrChrono, Epic, etc.)
As this is a fully remote position, applicants must have access to a quiet, private workspace and a reliable internet connection
Preferred:
Bilingual in Spanish and/or Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus but not required
Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing environment
Critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn new things and take initiative
An open mind and curiosity for the behavioral healthcare field, with a passion to improve the lives of others

Fair work deserves fair wages. We at Valera support wage-transparency and value this role at between $20.20-$22.11 per hour with the potential for an annual performance bonus.
