About the role

As a Mid/Senior Platform Engineer for the Platform Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our engineering organization. You will work closely with the IT Infrastructure, Security, and Product Teams to create innovative solutions that enhance our platform's reliability, scalability, and performance.

You are a passionate engineer who loves to write code, conceptualize features that support the entire engineering organization, and challenge traditional methods with a focus on automation and cloud-native solutions.

Our growth financing round of $50 million (€45 million) from February 2022 is helping us to scale our platform and add new data-based automation features for our rapidly growing customer base.

  • Building next generation DevOps infrastructure.

  • Automating processes within cloud operations, security configuration and account management.
  • Implementing tooling to help development teams use the cloud efficiently.

What You’ll Do

  1. Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the Platform Engineering Team, ensuring best practices in architecture and engineering are followed.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure alignment with the overall technical strategy and direction.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on the platform infrastructure.
  1. Project Development
  • Plan and manage platform engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their requirements and ensure that platform infrastructure supports their needs.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues, and take corrective action as required.
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements, and implement changes to increase efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to experiment, learn, and iterate.
  • Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive improvement.

Who you are

  • You have extensive experience in practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  • You have experience with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, Azure (AWS preferred).
  • You are a true team player with strong communication skills and empathy.
  • You have a passion for building products that our users love and enabling other engineers to learn from your work.

You should have

  • A focus on automation and cloud-native thinking.
  • A very strong technical as well as analytical background.
  • A proven record of working within distributed infrastructures and experience in Cloud technology.
  • 3+ years of working experience with cloud providers like AWS, certification an advantage.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Our Tech Stack

Our platform is powered by AWS, Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform and Docker. These tools form the foundation that allow us to deploy and scale fast and easily. Everything is monitored and logged by Prometheus and Grafana, including request tracing for better observability.

Our microservices and backends are running mostly on Java + Spring Boot and Groovy, which include easy-to-use templates for new microservices.

On the client-side we use Swift and Kotlin for our iOS and Android apps, as well as React micro-frontends for our B2B and operational apps.

We test our software by using Playwright, JUnit, Spock and React Testing Library.

We store data in various persistence technologies like Kafka streams, Postgres and Redis, while also using SQS and REST for both asynchronous and immediate service communication. We make use of technologies like ElasticSearch to perfectly match talents to the right job

We empower our teams to experiment with new technologies through our Request For Comments (RFC) process, in conjunction with collectives and knowledge-sharing sessions to gather input and maximize the quality of our deliverables. The insights we gain from our users flow back into our product development through A/B testing and constant feedback.
